Dr. Jeff started his academic career at the University of Western Ontario Canada, where he earned an Honours Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Pharmacology in 1984.
He went on to graduate from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1988.
His surgical and initial anesthesia training was through the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Dentistry Hospital Internship Program at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg Manitoba in 1990. During this time he did 2 months full-time training in general anesthesia within the operating room.
In 1991, he trained in Implant Surgery at New York University in the United States.
From 1998-2000 he did his anesthesia training through the North Eastern Medical Education Program(NOMEC ) and sanctioned by The American Dental Society of Anesthesia(ADSA). In 2000, he successfully passed the Fellowship examination in dental anesthesia and was awarded the American Dental Society of Anesthesia(ADSA) Fellowship in Dental Anesthesia.
In 2002 the National Dental Board of Anesthesia (NDBA) was inaugurated and Dr. Field was awarded the Diplomat Status of the NDBA. (National Dental Board of Anesthesia)
He has been involved in teaching throughout his career in the areas of anesthesia/sedation, dental surgery and dental implants in Canada, the Middle East, and Australia. Up until recently he was a yearly lecturer for ASDA (The Australian Dental Society for Anaesthesiology) and has lectured in the Australian Dental Anesthesia program at the University of Sydney from 2005-2010. Other teaching appointments are Senior Lecturer in both Oral Surgery and Anesthesia through Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, Implant surgery and prosthetics for Nobel Biocare in both Qatar and Dubai. He was a guest lecturer for the Medical Emergency Medicine residents through NOMEC in Canada.
He is a past federal council member for ASDA (The Australian Dental Society for Anaesthesiology), where he was involved in the running of the website including being in charge of the online continuing education program for the society up till 2015.
Dr. Field has been involved in the provision of, in-office sedation since 1990 and so brings 28 years of practice experience.
When not doing dentistry or dental surgery he likes woodworking and playing golf.
He joined the Portland Volunteer Coast Guard Flotilla F 17 in 2014. Dr. Jeff is now training Coast Guard members in Basic Life Support, Level 2 First Aid, and advanced oxygen therapy in both Portland and Warrnambool.
